Guided Hikes

Carter Caves State Resort Park is well known for its well-maintained walking and multi-use trail systems. Encompassing the entire park, sometimes just grabbing a trail map and trying to navigate yourself can be a bit intimidating. We are here to help! Join our Park Interpreters as they lead you on a guided hike while also touching on the history, geology, and biology of the surrounding area.

Box Canyon Nature Walk: Come hiking with us to Box Canyon, one of the most beautiful scenic views we have here at Carter Caves. Don’t forget your camera you will have the chance to get some memorable pictures during this walk. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Tour meets at the Cascade Cave Parking Area. Requirements: Must wear closed-toed shoes, 3-mile drive to Cascade Parking Area Cost: Free Age: All ages (15 and under must be accompanied by an adult) Length: 1 hr

Natural Bridge Nature Walk: Come take a walk with us to the Carter Caves Natural Bridge, which is one of the most massive limestone arches in Kentucky. Stroll along the scenic Cave Branch Creek and look 50 feet down through a skylight in the bridge. If the creek permits, we will take a side trail to see the entrance of Bat Cave. Enjoy the cool air blowing out of the cave and discover why this cave is so significant for bats. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes for this walk. Tour meets at the Welcome Center Porch. Requirements: Must wear closed-toed shoes Cost: Free Age: All ages (15 and under must be accompanied by an adult) Length: 45 min

Raven Bridge Nature Walk: Come hiking with us to Raven Bridge, one of the only sandstone bridges on the park. Don’t forget your camera you will have the chance to get some memorable pictures during this walk. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Tour meets at the Lewis Caveland Lodge. Requirements: Must wear closed-toed shoes Cost: Free Age: All ages (15 and under must be accompanied by an adult) Length: 1 hr
